Our Mission
The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department’s primary mission is to preserve life and property, protect the rights of all persons, maintain peace and order, prevent and detect crime, and enforce State law and local ordinances.
To accomplish this mission, members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department are bestowed the necessary legal authority by the community we serve. The foundation of our mission is based upon our commitment to justice, equality, compassion, courtesy, dedication and professional service to others.
To ensure success in this mission, members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department shall maintain the trust, confidence, and respect of the community we serve, by continuing to educate ourselves and our community for evolving needs and trends, having empathy for others, having strength (both physically and mentally) to meet and overcome challenges, demonstrating our commitment to providing the highest level of excellence and professional service, recognizing the need for all members to exhibit organizationally expected behavior and are willing to accept personal responsibility, while being accountable to all members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Police Department and the community we serve.
Parking Tickets
There are three options to pay a parking ticket:
- By Check – Checks can be made out to the appropriate city and mailed to or dropped off at 380 Old Lincoln Hwy, Mount Vernon, IA 52314.
- Over the Phone- For a fee, tickets can be paid over the phone using a credit card during normal business hours. To pay your ticket over the phone, call the non-emergency number: 319-895-6141.
- Online – Pay your ticket online right now!
Home Security Checks
If you are heading out of town or will be away from your home or business for an extended period of time, you can request an officer from the Mount Vernon Police Department to periodically check the property.
